Your worth is not measured by how much you accomplishโ€”even on holiday.

I recently came across the expression โ€œ๐š๐ข๐ฆ๐ฅ๐ž๐ฌ๐ฌ ๐ซ๐ž๐ฅ๐š๐ฑ๐š๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง,โ€ and it made me pause. It made me realize how deeply weโ€™ve wired ourselves for performanceโ€”not just at work, but in almost every area of life.

We optimize our workouts, our sleep, our holidays, and even our recovery. Somehow, even time off has become another performance. We feel the need to see everything, experience everything, document everything, and share everything, as if rest also needs to be productive.

Yet our nervous system doesnโ€™t recover from doing more. It recovers when it feels safe enough to simply be.

In moments of safety, stillness, and presence, the nervous system returns to ๐œ๐จ๐ก๐ž๐ซ๐ž๐ง๐œ๐ž โ€” a state of balance and harmonious functioning between the body, mind, and heart.

As many of us head into the summer holidays hoping to recover and recharge, perhaps what we need most isnโ€™t a better itinerary. Perhaps we simply need less stimulation.

Consider leaving your phone in your room for a while, logging out of social media during your holiday, watching the sunset without taking a photo, going for a swim without checking your smartwatch afterwards, or sitting by the sea with nothing to listen to and nowhere to be.

Allow your mind to become a little quieter. Sometimes the greatest gift we can offer our nervous system isnโ€™t another experience. Itโ€™s the space to fully experience the one weโ€™re already in.

Your worth is not measured by how much you accomplishโ€”even on holiday.

Your nervous system isnโ€™t asking for another achievement; itโ€™s asking for moments of safety, stillness, presence... and aimless relaxation.

Aimless relaxation for better performance
